National Constitution Day -2024

Government Degree College,Kalakote, celebrated Constitution Day with great enthusiasm and reverence onNovember 26, 2024. The event was held to commemorate the adoption of the IndianConstitution, a landmark moment in the country's democratic history. Thecelebration was marked to raise awareness about the significance of theConstitution and the fundamental values it upholds. The whole event was hostedby Prof. Davinder Kumar (HOD Hindi).

The highlight of the event wasa thought-provoking speech delivered by Mr. Tanveer Rasool Dar, a distinguishedfaculty member at the college. In his address, Mr. Tanveer emphasized theimportance of the Indian Constitution as a cornerstone of India's democracy andits role in safeguarding the rights and freedoms of every citizen. He reflectedon the visionary leadership of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the Constituent Assembly,which worked tirelessly to craft a document that embodies the principles ofjustice, equality, and liberty.

The programme was organizedunder the able guidance of Principal of the College, Prof. Mohd Farooq Mirza.In his speech he urged the students to not only read the Constitution but alsounderstand its provisions and actively engage in fostering a democratic spiritwithin the country. He highlighted how the Constitution provides a frameworkfor protecting human rights, ensuring social justice, and promoting secularismin India. He also spoke about the relevance of constitutional values in thepresent-day context, calling upon the youth to contribute to the progress andunity of the nation by adhering to the principles enshrined in theConstitution.

The celebration was attendedby faculty members, students, and college staff, all of whom participated invarious activities such as reading out the Pledge, and engaging in discussionsabout constitutional rights and duties. The programme was culminated by a voteof thanks performed by Miss. Sapna Bhasin (Member of NSS committee).
